Some of the posts in this threads seems to be very diplomatic and unhonest. I don't know why they wrote so.. but I really find them funny to judge about the googles new browser Chrome and others. Firefox is very good for windows vista users.... but its Mac OS verson is not as good as Safari by Apple. First for your confusion we should take.
I think most of you still use IE7 and if you r happy with that, then there is no need to go for other one.. It all depends upon your need.
Chrome Vs IE8
Both of these explorer are in beta verson and Google Chrome is good for its simplicity but IE 8 is some better in functionality. I am writing it because I had spent some time on Javascripts for such browsers.
1. Speed
In speed, both are good... but i definitely like Chrome as its basic interface shows a Web address bar, back and forward buttons, a refresh button and two menus, one for tools and another to handle items such as creating new tabs, new windows and copying and pasting. (By way of comparison, to do those same functions in IE means using three different menus.)
In Internet Explorer, the Web site tabs remain located below the address bar, as they are in Firefox. Chrome puts the tabs above the address bar, giving a truer appearance of file folders in a cabinet.
But in case of Firefox.. multiple tabs can't be handled so easily. So easy to hang up if you open more than 5 tabs simultaneousely. ut there is no such issue with IE8 and Chrome.
Visuality
Chrome and IE 8 both have Web address bars that try to anticipate what you want to search for, or where you want to go, as soon as you type in a word. Chrome calls its auto-completion feature “Omnibox,” and IE 8’s is “Smart Address Bar. Both of these worked well.
Chrome’s is called “Incognito” mode, which you can slip into at any time by clicking on the same menu you use for creating a new tab. Google is quite clear about Incognito’s features.

Security....
In that case... IE8 is far better than Chrome. And even much more suitable for IT professionals and student having something to do with web development. I am very sorry to say that Chrome is better for everyday users... But not so good for IT professionals and students.
So its upto you to pick out any of them..... If you are a daily user.. then Chrome.. or if professional.. then IE8.

Chrome Vs Firefox
Again I would say the greatest advantage of Chrome over Firefox is its ability to handle tabs in independent processes which means a browser or plugin bug, or an incorrectly coded web page can’t take down the whole browser, but just that tab or plugin alone
Even Firefox is better in starts with the lack of extensibility in the sense Firefox provides it: a way to make the browser do whatever you can imagine, to the point of making it a completely different application like FireFTP or Pencil do.
Some of the lacking features of Chrome
There is no tab overflow handling, no tagging or smart bookmarks handling, no download resume between sessions,.......no closed tab recovery,......no multiple dictionary support, no toolbar customization beyond hiding the Home button and the bookmarks toolbar, the bookmarks toolbar is only accessible via Ctrl + B, no kind of web feeds support, no native video/audio support, no discontinuous selection option, no page printing options, etc.
But we all know that this is a beta verson... So some of the features may be added sooner or later.... but in same aspects... lets see..
