Is poverty is the face of India abroad?

I'm never going to agree with this. And why people think like that, as all are well aware of the fact the out of 10 richest 4 are Indians. Well, so this is clear that most richest and some poor lives together only in India. But the western people thinks that they are richer than us. Also people might be aware of the fact that India is the richest country on the earth before the invasion of the British. And sooner we will be going to achieve this position soon. But did anyone of them really concern that why people abroad think this way. I guess the number is too less.

Now a days 'India bashing' became a lucrative and attractive business , be it slum dog or Booker winner 'white tiger'. It really shows cheap and sick imperial mentality of western countries and their jealousy towards emerging India. When people come to India, what they respect most is the "modesty" of the people here.Even in documentaries, they try to focus on the slums, even if they are trying to show the urban life in general. Yeah may be many poor people leave in India, but does anybody notice that majority of top most companies are ruled by Indians, like Microsoft, IBM, even NASA, but still people picks the negatives first, its our mentality. Even we Indians are very habitual to this.

One might feel that some of us might be lucky that we have access to the world through Internet, afford PC's have AC's in our homes and we keep on arguing that India is awakening. I say yes we are awakening, and your point is also worthy but its not the same image as you are aware off. I have seen some slums in Mumbai who even have AC's in their rooms and good Internet connection. We might be having facilities but they are not even near to the western countries people having them. But this might be also contradicted by the number of people in the country and the number of people having such facilities. Just think on this, you get an idea how far we are from them.

Still filmmakers and writers herein India trying to show such a bad picture of India to the Indians as well as outside India to get more viewers. Some people think that showing such type of things to the viewers may able to fetch you some awards. So, why not have bollywood start showing India as it really is? have the truth come from YOU! show us what you want us to see, not what apparently someone wants us to see. why they cant show the other side of India? I was brooding over this too, when some film or book portrays the poverty in India, people (read westerners and some Indians too) call it representation of THE TRUE INDIA!!!? What do they mean by that?Does that mean we are faking our growth, and portraying a false picture of us to the world? Bollywood has hardly shown us the real picture of India and was always making movies which gives or tell us to live in the life of fantasy and dream. Christian Missionaries show photos of poor Indian children to collect money from people. Obviously that money goes in Missionary conversion purpose and India gets Poor Image.

It is hard to digest but the fact is that more Indians like to believe that we are poor and openly agree to westerners point...believe me this has to do something with our sickular brothers and sisters, a true patriot, a true Indian would never want to show his country in poor light, as predicted by Bhagat Singh, we came to be ruled by our so called elite boot licking, westernised sick peoples. So let me tell you some facts.
  • The purchasing power of middle class is increasing. At the same time the prices are increasing. Tomato sold at Mandi is costing 20 rupees. Whereas we are paying 35-40 rupees in the marts run by foreign company. Small shop keepers are losing their business to these marts.
  • Despite having 30% of worlds food industry, we are poor country.
  • Despite owning more than 25% of textile industry, we are poor country.
  • Their are many videos on YouTube and other sites presents the real picture of India.
  • We are the largest in call centre and BPO industry and make those western people to do smaller tasks and still they think that we are poor. If we don't have those appliances how we able to make them to run them so successfully.
  • Many of the big firms have majority of employees from Indian origin.
  • Out of ten worlds richest person four are Indians.

But who cares about them. They still concentrate on the negatives Yeah,.there are poor people, millions of them. But there are also people who are filthy rich, a vibrant middle class etc etc...its just two sides of a coin. I think the people are having trouble accepting both sides. For me poverty is relative. Its not absolute. We are culturally rich but economically poor( not that much that anyone portrays our image as a poor country). If we consider westerners philosophy, then every Indian is poor taking into account the value of rupee. Suppose half of our population was in Europe or USA, those countries would have gone nuts by now. Despite our so called poverty, our Indian railways is largest employer in the world. Until dollar and euros are treated the international standard there is no hope to the economically rich country.

It's white mans selfishness and ego which is causing the whole world to be poor in front of his eyes. Even they are against accepting blacks to be part of their nation(USA).

So, sad some people here ignore the fact that we have slums and poor people in India which accounts for 20% of the total population. And the people instead of thinking about the rest of 80% population, portrays our image on the basis of these 20% people. And yeah they are also part of us and can not be ignored.

We still seek loan from World Bank in the name of Poverty, so what do u guys expect the world community to think of India? This might be one of the point, but their are many countries in the world who ask for the same from the World Bank. And that for those 20% people. And we agree with that. But at least show the other things too.

There is no denying that we are making a rapid progress in every field but we do have beggars in the street roaming and seeking alms from us. We also accept that, but still the number is decreasing day by day. But no one noticed that.

West don't deny that we are less than anyone but we should also not forget that we have large number of income inequality. But does anyone put a check on this that how we come near to them. We have extreme rich people and extremely poor people too. But still we have a large middle class that very worthy.

So, both the poor and rich makes India of today, and instead of arguing why can't we accept that we have almost 20 crores Indian living under poverty, which is one of the fact of this developing country. But does this really mean that we are a poor country. 20 crores is a big number but what about rest 80+ crores. Who cares this is positive, so neglect. That's our mentality. Picks positives at least. Stop portraying our image as poors.

China vs India: Sikkim border conflict between India and China in 1967

Did you know India has offered 800 sheep and 59 yaks to China. Image Source: Google Images I am pretty sure its hard to believe, but its true, that India has offered 800 sheep and 59 yaks to China. 1962 war with China will remain in the memories of most of the Indians. Although China was not able to gain any strategic advantage after the war. Hence China keeps on waiting or rather creating these small issues to take advantage out of them. For this China opened another front in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, but they did not find any reason to start any conflict with India in these reasons. Then comes this missing flock of 800 sheep and 59 yaks besides the allegations of territorial incursions. This let to the build-up Sikkim border conflict between India and China in 1967. This is what China was looking for since 1962 war. Exchanges between the two governments dating back to 1965 reveal that China accused Indian troops of stealing the flock of animals from Tibetan herdsmen
