Real India according to Movie makers

After the release of Slumdog Millionaire, the issue of real India was again heated up in discussion forums. While discussing on such a topic, most of the people really thinks that west loves to see us the way the film shows us. This happens in India, but is this only happening in India. People from west like to see all that shown in the movie. What you say guys as this is a point of discussion these days. Real India, as seen in many movies the actors showing the real India according to them. A movie can't show real Indian face. A movie doesn't show much of real India, to be very honest. No movie can show real India, it will have to be combination of 6-7 movies. Slumdog Millionaire deserves Oscar or not? Well I say no. As this movie can't be considered as foreign language movie and competing in English movies category, its hard for this movie as their are many good movie in this category. Well this thing is not a concern here, as this topic is irrelevant from the main topic.

Still people thinks India is a poor country, and there is nothing else than poverty. And they only see those beggars, slums, religious riots etc. etc. But does anyone see the other things what India have. Well I am fully agree with this that we are having a poverty problem, but we are not treated as poor. How is this possible for a poor country to have 4 out of 10 richest persons of the world. Still there are other things I want to put light on them, what the filmmakers think:-

I think real India also has some positives like IT Parks, something like the Golden Quadrilateral, so in no way a single movie can show "Real" India.

Indians see slum and they say real India.

People see Swades and they said it shows "Real India"

People see Traffic Signal and they say it shows "Real India"

In a scene in Rang De Basanti also, Singhania(a actor) also said to the foreign filmmaker after that bribe thing, "Welcome to India."

Slam Bombay, an another example for the same.

Is that all India is about?

Swades showed plight of farmers, missed the slums. Slumdog Millionaire showed slums and development over the slums, missed the plight of farmers. Traffic Signal showed how people in slum earn, by being a beggar, they missed the other people with different jobs living in slums, Rang de Basanti showed corruption.

So in no way, a single movie shows "Real" India.

Also their are many movies showing other faces of India. India is no doubt a IT giant. So how can you say after seeing a movie that this shows a real India. No movie can show a real India. After all still the Manoj Kumar's "Puran aur Paschim" treated as a movie which shows real Indian, but now that's past. We are heading to lead the world. A land of snake charmers reach the moon last year, how can one even dare to think that we are still snake charmers. Yeah we have a lot of diversity in our country where one can see a rich and poor, scientists, technicians, engineers, doctors etc.

30% population of India live in the condition shown in these movies. What about the rest of India. Look for the negatives and get hyped.

If any movie is to be made to show real India, every aspect must have been covered, otherwise one need not to say that its real India.

Lets talk about Slumdog, most of the people here think that it doesn't deserve an Oscar because as Indians we dint see anything new in the film, we are so used to seeing the kids in rags begging on the streets, we so used to watching people in the slums, we are so used to the things whatever that was presented on the screen, but if you stop for one moment and think that what ever you saw on the screen was nothing but the thought of one person and it was nothing more than art imitating life, and every single character in the film were just doing what was told to them, then you would really understand what an Amazing genius Danny Boyle is and what an Amazing movie slum dog millionaire is. That's the only thing on this basis this movie can be treated as a good movie and can be nominated for the best film category, but its a hard competition for it from other movies.

But if someone say that this movie must get an Oscar on the basis of the point that it shows real India, then this is not true at all.

China vs India: Sikkim border conflict between India and China in 1967

Did you know India has offered 800 sheep and 59 yaks to China. Image Source: Google Images I am pretty sure its hard to believe, but its true, that India has offered 800 sheep and 59 yaks to China. 1962 war with China will remain in the memories of most of the Indians. Although China was not able to gain any strategic advantage after the war. Hence China keeps on waiting or rather creating these small issues to take advantage out of them. For this China opened another front in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, but they did not find any reason to start any conflict with India in these reasons. Then comes this missing flock of 800 sheep and 59 yaks besides the allegations of territorial incursions. This let to the build-up Sikkim border conflict between India and China in 1967. This is what China was looking for since 1962 war. Exchanges between the two governments dating back to 1965 reveal that China accused Indian troops of stealing the flock of animals from Tibetan herdsmen
