What about Right to Homosexuality

Homosexuality has always been considered as a taboo by our Indian Society. Homosexuals have been condemned for expressing their sexuality. The society has always looked down onto them for their choice of being who they are,
The termination of Indian Penal Code 377, in favor of homosexuals it has been one of the historic judgment by the Indian Judiciary system. This step taken by the Indian Law has brought about hope for the homosexuals across India and also a question along with it, that how far will the Indian public accept this step, of bringing an end to descriminalization of homosexuals.
There have been mixed reaction from the society, with the old generation still to come terms with the acceptance of homosexuals among them. The youths have embraced this decision and are glad that finally the jurisdiction has given the much deserved right to homosexuals.
Certain sections of the country have expressed indignation at the Gay Parade. They are of the opinion that it’s the influence of western countries and is against the Indian culture. Do we really follow culture in its truest form or are we biased towards its implication. Is the expression so vulgar that it should be disapproved? I guess no, its an expression of who they are and it is result of the suppression of their emotions and self.
Why should they be questioned upon their choice when our country is secular and has welcomed every culture, religion and trend with open arms. Why is homosexuality looked down on when it has been present right from the ancient era. Its not that they chose to be homosexuals, its natural phenomenon. If we want to express outrage then why not at nature who has made them like this.
There are certain practices in each religion which we find unacceptable today but don’t we still allow them because its how they are supposed to be. Today we have a part of a society asking for justice being granted to them , a right to be who they are and not be ashamed of how they are. We talk about equality, but do we really grant people this right when they deserve it the most. Are we not being partial and unjust?. These seem at times stupid and irrelevant questions but for few it’s a matter of granting a wish of life.
What a man-woman, man-man, woman-woman do inside their bedroom is a their private affair and we have no right to interfere in their matter. We have stepped into this new era where 100 countries across the globe have approved of the right to choice of sexuality by its people. When we call ourselves modernized enough to accept all our thoughts and opinions then why not this cause.
Its high time we stop being hypocrites, and let people choose the way of living in a country which is equal towards all. I wish all the happiness to Homosexuals across the globe.
