Maxwell Industries Limited, is a leading manufacturer of high quality 100%cotton yarn manufacturer in INDIA for hosiery/weaving industries. We operate in the highly competitive domestic and international market as suppliers of 100% Combed Auto leveled and Auto Coned Contamination controlled Siro cleared hosiery/woven cotton yarn for the high tech knitting/weaving industry.

We are a part of the successful Group, a leading supplier of world-class undergarments, with a total group turnover of USD 75 million. The unit started functioningin 1995 at the picturesque location of Kollappalur, 85 kms. from Coimbatore in the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. We have a state-of-the-art spinning mill which has an installed capacity of 26,208 Ring spindles with LUWA Automatic Humidification Control Plant from Blow Room to Packing. At Maxwell we are continuously striving for technological excellence by bringing the latest and best machineries internationally available. We also have a testing laboratory par excellence.

The mill exports 60% production of our total capacity in countries like Europe, USA, Korea, Egypt, Hong Kong, etc.

We offer our customers fully Combed, Polysensor Contamination Cleaned at Blow room, Auto leveled and Auto coned yarn with SIRO Uster Quantum Clearers . The range is from NE 30s to 60s suitable for application on high speed knitting/ weaving machines. We manufacture Combed HOSIERY Cotton Yarn in counts 24's, 30's, 34's,36s, 40s,50s & 60s and 40’s and 60's WEAVING counts.

We have an excellent dedicated and committed team which monitors the entire manufacturing process right from cotton selection to the delivery of the product to our customer.

Business Profile

Maxwell Industries (MAXWEL) is the flagship company of the VIP group. The company is one of largest innerwear manufacturers and marketers in the world. MAXWEL sells innerwear under the umbrella brand VIP as well as other brands, namely, Rivolta, Try, Feeling and Frenchie X.

The unit started functioning in 1995 in Kollappalur, Tamil Nadu. The company has a state-of-the-art spinning mill which has an installed capacity of 26,208 ring spindles with LUWA automatic humidification control plant from blow room to packing. MAXWEL also has a testing laboratory par excellence.

Maxwell Industries is part of the VIP Group which is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of innerwear, lingerie, readymade garments, socks and other accessories. VIP Group has more than 35 brands under its umbrella.

This group owns well known brands, such as Frenchie X, Bonus, Rivolta, Advanta, Feelings, Brat, Leader, Lovable, Daisy Dee Bra, Excel and Live-in. These brands command major market shares in their respective segments and are present in all the category segments - lower, medium and premium.


There are five businesses, namely, Maxwell Industries, Lovable Lingerie, Microtex Industries, Hybo Hindustan and Gomma Industries.

Hybo Hindustan and Gomma are the manufacturing units. The group has now undertaken a consolidation exercise to combine the businesses of all its group companies into its flagship company - Maxwell Industries.

Financials

Maxwell Industries registered a 87.93% growth in net profits to Rs 28.19 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from a profit of Rs 15.00 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

Net Sales rose 4.54% to Rs 513.84 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from Rs 491.54 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

Total income rose 5.40% to Rs 519.76 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from Rs 493.11 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 0.41 in the quarter ended September 2007.

Future Plans

The company plans to set up a chain of retail stores for Lovable range of products and Live-In casual bottom wear range.

It proposes a capex of about Rs 3 billion to be invested in the next one to one and a half years towards major capacity expansion projects involving investment in yarn, spinning, dyeing, processing, knitting and stitching capacity, apart from brand building exercise.

Maxwell will be investing about Rs 100 million equity, (the European partners will bring in similar amount) in a joint venture (JV) with two leading European companies. The JV will launch two European brands in India. The company plans to lay greater thrust on exports.

From the Maxwell stable it is planning to launch two new brands - Playboy Jeans and Vanity Fair brand of lingerie. Playboy jeans will be launched in the first quarter of the financial year 2008, while Vanity Fair will be introduced in the third quarter of the financial year 2007. The company has procured license for these two brands for five years, and the license agreement is renewable thereafter.
