Jammu & Kashmir

In 1947, Indian subcontinent was devided in two self governing bodies - India and Pakistan. At that time Kashmir decided to remain autonomus, under Raja Hari singh.

But in 1948, Pakistan with help of local tribels, atacked Kashmir. Raja Hari Singh sought india’s help. Kashmir merged with india on 26 oct 1947, with some autonomus provisions. Indian Army faught and pushed back Pakistani army.

When the war was on, then Prime Minister of india, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru took the matter to UNO. UNO ordered ceasefire. Plebiscite was ordered by UNO on the condition of withdrawal of both the army.

From entire Kashmir, Neither Pakistan nor India withdrew their Armies. Plebiscite has not been carried out till date. Part of Kashmir, The POK is still held under Pakistani Occupation.

In 1971, Shimala agreement was signed between India and Pakistan, according to which it was agreed that dispute over Kashmir will be resolved between both the nation with out intervantion of any third party. This was a master stroke by India.

In post cold era Pakistan’s ISI started to send Al Kaida militants in Kashmir and caused a lot of trouble for India.

But in the last two elections, Kashmiri people have shown a lot of faith in Indian constitution. In recent happened 15th Lok Sabha general election, there was 68% voting by Kashmiri people despite the terrorist threat.

It is high time, the Government of India won faith of J&K people by brining about a lot of development in Kashmir.

We need to set up agro-based industry, food industry, health & education. We should develop SEZ with fullproof security alongside the road and railheads. If real development takes place in J&K, the people will lean towards India. Any eventvality of plebiscite will be in India’s favour.
